MY NAME IS ALAN GRANT

Hello, I'm Dr. Alan Grant. I'm 30 years old, and I'm a paleontologist. I was interested about dinosaurs ever since I was just a kid, and that's what inspired me to be a paleontologist.  I work for John Hammond, by studying about dinosaurs' fossils. I work together with Dr. Ellie Sattler, she's a paleobotanist, which means she studies plants that grows in the Jurassic Period, and how they live. I made a new friend named Bob Morris when he wanted to ask me questions about John Hammond and his interest about dinosaurs. I found out from Morris that Hammond had bought a new island near Costa Rica, called it Isla Nublar. I didn't know anything about an island being bought, and I don't know what was the reason it was bought. I was called to visit the island with Ellie, because Hammond wanted our opinions about the island. In the helicopter to Isla Nublar, i made riends with a mathematician named Ian Malcolm, Dennis Nedry, a computer expert, who claimed he was going to sort out some bugs in the computer system, and Donald Gennaro, a lawyer in InGen Incorporated. Malcolm studies the chaos theory, and he predicted that things will go horribly wrong in the island. I didn't know anything about the island, and I don't know anything about the chaos theory, but I don't like the sound of it. I found out what the island was really about when the helicopter landed. I got out and stared at what looked like a tree trunk. Surprisingly, it can move! Then I realized that I was staring at the neck of an Apatosaur!! Hammond bought the island to build an animal park! But what was really surprising is that the animals are dinosaurs, creatures that should've been extinct a long time ago! Hammond claimed that the dinosaurs were real, not machines. But still.. I have a bad feeling about this, that one day the dinosaurs will be the problem.

WELCOME TO ISLA NUBLAR

Everyone wasn't sure whether the park was safe or not. Dinosaurs were supposed to be extinct millions of years ago! I was starting to become more suspicious whether the dinosaurs will cause big problems on the island. But Hammond looks calm and sure that nothing will go wrong, and even worse, he invited his grandchildren: Tim and Lex Murphy to stay on Isla Nublar for the weekend! Gennaro became mad at Hammond, for he put his own grandchildren in danger. "We're not even sure whether this island is safe or not!" Gennaro yelled. I'm also a bit suspicious, but I decided to know what the island is really about through experience. Ed Regis, the publicity manager, led Ellie and me into the Safari Lodge the building we're going to stay in. The Safari Lodge doesn't look anything like the picture on the plans. The windows are all small and there are bars over them, the doors are made of metal, there are bars too over the skylight, and a metal fence ran around the Lodge! This doesn't look like a safe place to stay, it looks like a prison! But I never got the chance, because that's when the scientists of Isla Nublar started to tell us how they REALLY made the dinosaurs. I met some new friends: John Arnold [chief engineer], Robert Muldoon [park warden], Dr. Harding [vet], and Henry Wu [chief geneticist]. They all worked in the Control Room. The DNA was taken from insects that are trapped in harden amber. The insects fed on dinosaurs. That's how they got the DNA. But I found out that the scientists don't know what kind of animal they are making, they just let it grow, and see what it is. The dinosaurs will hatch from eggs, but sometimes the scientists will have to inject poison into the egg if something goes wrong. The dinosaurs that hatch will become adults in two to four years. Wu claimed that they don't let dinosaurs breed. I learned from Wu that one type of dinosaur, VELOCIRAPTORS, are very fierce when they grow up, but when they are young, they are friendly. After I knew that, Ellie, Malcolm, Tim, and I had a sudden desire to see the adult velociraptors. The velociraptors cage was at the back of the building. As we got closer, the dinosaurs began to become extremely aggresive, they tried to attack us. We would've died if the cage wasn't electric. Malcolm said, "I have heard that predators have to learn that men are easy to kill. But how do DINOSAURS know that?" That's when things started to go wrong.

STARTING MY JURASSIC KNOWLEDGE

This really is a very big park! In total, there are 238 animals, made up of T-Rexes, Maiasaurs, Stegosaurs, Triceratops, Compsognathids. Othnielia, Velociraptors, Apatosaurs, Hadrosaurs, Dilophosaurs, Pterosaurs, Hypsilophodontids, Euoplocephalids, Styracosaurs, and Callovosaurs. The computer system is VERY accurate! If an animal dies, the computer will tell us in a few minutes. The cameras and sensors detect the dinosaurs movement, and will tell us if a dinosaur escaped from its enclosure. John Arnold claimed that dinosaurs escaping the enclosure rarely happens. There are extremely powerful electric fences, and deep moats around each enclosure. After that was explained, the tour started. We rode on land-cruisers. Tim found night-vision goggles, a walkie-talkie, and a computer. The computer can explain things to us about the park. It said that all dinosaurs were not very big. We learned more about dinosaurs in this tour. We learned that dilophosaurs spits poison to its prey if it's hungry, triceratops can't see well, and a young T-Rex can weight 1.50 tonnes. As we continued, we suddenly saw a sick stegosaur. Ellie said it was poisoned. Poisoned every 6 weeks! Next to the stegosaur, there were pieces of shell from a dinosaur egg. "The dinosaurs don't breed! We didn't let them," Wu claimed. I'm not sure... There is a possibility that the scientists have accidentally made male dinosaurs, but everyone in the Control Room claimed that they only make female dinosaurs....
